Sorry Boys were formed in January 2006 and despite a very short career so far they have achieved a lot. They took part in and won a lot of festivals and competitive gigs. Lately they were a spectacular success at the popular international bands competition – the GBOB Challenge. In December 2008 they represented Poland at the finale of the competition which took place at the famous London club the Scala. Sorry Boys were received warmly by the audience and acclaimed by the judges.

The band is currently working on their debit album which will be out later this year. Some of their tracks are already available on compilations. The songs: Chance, Winter, and Borderline appeared on We Are From Poland (vol.II and IV) and Minimax p.5

The main characteristics of the work of the Sorry Boys are roomy guitar sounds, the moving and melancholic vocals of Iza Komoszyńska, and strong melodies. Their strength lies in their ability to create an amazing atmosphere and a multi-layered sound. Dąbrowski and Blak are experts at using icy guitar sounds. Iza Komoszyńska is definitely one of today’s most talented young Polish female singers. Her qualities are intuition, good style and incredible musical intelligence. Iza’s strong and colourful voice remains in your consciousness. Sorry Boys combine the chill of the Editors, the catchiness of Glasvegas, and the melodic style of The Cocteau Twins.

Sorry Boys are:

Izabela Komoszyńska – vocals, keyboards

Tomasz Dąbrowski – guitar

Piotr Blak – guitar

Kuba Zawadziło – drums

Jacek Perkowski – bass

RAISING STAR OF POLISH JAZZ

She is definitely of the most interesting Polish female jazz singers of the new generation. Her speciality is using her voice as a musical instrument and she excels at scatting. She is a vocalist, composer, arranger and producer.

Karolina experiments with new vocal sounds. Her 4 octave vocal range and her musical imagination is a great asset here. She performs with her Quintet, comprised of young and talented musicians. She also performs solo at special events, festivals and prestigious gigs. Sometimes she performs as a duo with Krzysztof Ścierański – one of the best Polish bass players. Each gig is a journey to a different music territory.

In 2003 she was the winner of The International Jazz Singers Convention in Zamość and this kick started her career. Since her early years she had singing lessons form Krystyna Prońko, Aneta Łastik and Anna Serafińska. She took lessons in vocal improvisation from Kevin Mahogany – one of the four best male jazz singers in the USA. Now she gives vocal master classes for upcoming young vocalists wanting to improve their vocal technique.

Karolina Glazer as a composer and arranger mixes African rhythms, Arabic scales, Scandinavian mood and white jazz vocal style. She is not afraid of employing musical diversity – in fact she makes it a strength. After Urszula Dudziak, she is the only singer doing songs written to be performed by voice only. Using only her voice digitally enhanced and multilayered she achieves a full choral sound.
